Detecting Internal Defects in FRP Core Rods
FRP core rods can contain manufacturing defects — voids, dry fibers, contamination, or delamination between glass fiber and resin. These defects are impossible to detect by visual inspection alone. The dye penetration test, combined with cross-sectioning, reveals internal defects that would otherwise become failure initiation points in service.
